49: Spring break feels like it's over before it started

I don’t really understand spring break. First off, it’ s in March. The weather is unpredictable, as we all have witnessed in the last week. Going on an actual vacation seems to early in the year, and I still go to work during the break. So what the heck?

Today while working out, someone asked me why I didn’t go anywhere for spring break. I said I didn’t have anywhere to go, but that’s not really true. I really just had some engagements on awkward days making it pretty impossible to go out of town for any meaningful period.

Every spring break on a Tuesday, I go to Centerville High School for Career Day to try to promote Sinclair’s multimedia journalism program. I have my third Brandberry show on Friday and an Oscar party to attend on Sunday. There just wasn’t any way to make it work.

So if I had been able to go on vacation, I wanted to list the places I would go. Don’t shame me if most of them involve drinks and gambling.

My parents’ house in Columbus: While it’s not my childhood home, it’s always nice to go and spend time with my parents. We usually go to the casino for some poker, and me and dad always watch a movie or listen to music.

Miami Valley Gaming: If I don’t want to travel too far, I will usually go stay at a hotel in Middletown and then make a trip over to Miami Valley Gaming. They have some of the best slot machines. Sorry Hollywood in Dayton.

My sister’s near St. Louis: This was the original plan, but I had to cancel due to the third winery show. Porter’s birthday is in March, but mom is taking my gifts to him.

That’s really all I can think of at the moment. What would you do on spring break?
