8: Acknowledge the light or else!
I did a bad thing this week. So bad that I keep thinking about it over and over and over and over. Obsessive thoughts really suck sometimes.

I performed at Go Bananas this week, which is a great club. It reminds of Wiley’s for a couple reasons. It dark, dank and I apparently go over my time there too. I saw the light, but apparently I was not clear enough with my nod.
Either that or the light I saw was the second light. The second light, which is strobe-like, is the one that means, “Get the F off stage.” Whether or not that was the case, the fact is I got cut off, and it was one of the most embarrassing moments EVER.

I have been notorious in the past for not seeing the light and going over my time. It has only happened at Wiley’s. I want to just quickly address why this sometimes happens to me; however, I am not making excuses. It is unprofessional to go over your time. No excuses.
- My vision is not the best and many times, I just do not see the light.
- I am just so caught up on stage sometimes, that time escapes me because I am having a blast on stage.
- I tend to add new stuff at the last minute. This throws my set off. So the perfectly timed set I practiced, gets moved around. When this happens, I tend to pause more.
Like I said, I am not making excuses. I should do my pre-planned set and not make changes. I will say this though. I had a great time at Go Bananas, and I hope this doesn’t kill my chances of performing there again.
The embarrassment I felt the other night was intense. It probably wasn’t as bad as I thought, but when I make a faux pas, I tend to dwell on it. But here’s to this mistake and learning from it.
