My first love: Comedy articles, interviews I have had in 2022
This year I have jumped back into freelance writing with both feet. I’ve been interviewing comedians about shows. Comedy is back in full force and I’m glad that I get to do one of my favorite things: interviewing comedians and writing about comedy.
Here are some highlights from articles I have written this year:
Earlier this year, I had the honor of interviewing Nancy Cartwright about her new audiobook. I spoke with her a lot about Kettering and her time here. It was an awesome interview I will remember forever. Read it here: https://bit.ly/3e2wCsw
In March I was tasked with writing a round up of all the comedy shows coming to town. The pandemic had waned, and people were ready to laugh. I spoke with Andre Bennington from Dayton Live about all the comedians coming to town. I also checked in with local venues Wiley’s Comedy Club, Black Box Improv and Dayton Funny Bone. >>>>DIARY: It’s always a necessity to bomb even though it hurts so much!
Wiley’s celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, so I interviewed the original Wiley, Dan Lafferty. I found out about Wiley’s beginnings and its move to the Oregon district. Read it here: https://bit.ly/3pNUD9p
Dave Chappelle has hosted many shows in Yellow Springs and Donnell Rawlings was on many of them. This year, Rawlings hosted his own event in Yellow Springs, so I was able to chat with him about what he loves about the area. Read it here: https://bit.ly/3R8jRLC
I have always improv, so I jumped at the opportunity to interview Greg Proops when he was at the Fraze Pavilion with Drew Carey, Joel Murray, Ryan Stiles and Jeff B. Davis. Proops discusses why he loves performing. Read it here: https://bit.ly/3pNkePS
