I haven’t written a diary since October. As an update, I decided to be Princess Leia for Halloween. Chris even drove all the way to Cincinnati to make sure I had the proper buns for my costume. The party was amazing and I had so much fun catching up with people.

As for me, the last couple months have been good and bad when it comes to comedy. I’ve been on the receiving end of some asshole comments and rude audience members. However, I feel like I have taken all of it in stride.

Was I mad when someone said I wasn’t funny? Yes. I was upset. Really upset. After 10 years of doing this and after trying my best to help promote Dayton comedy, I couldn’t believe someone would be that mean. I am proud of myself for getting over it quickly. I typically dwell on things like that, but I am moving on, but with one less friend.

I told some audience members to quiet down at one of my winery shows and took a piece of cheese from their plate. I know, probably not the best decision. But did I deserve to be intimidated outside by an audience member by myself while other comedians did nothing? No. That one is still raw, but I’m almost over it.

So what’s been good in comedy this year?

In January and February, I was performing nonstop. I was performing a couple times a week and I was getting back into the swing of things. I got to hang out with my true comedy friends, who are hard to find. I was able to help Bricky’s Comedy Club claim a world record. I wrote an article and performed. I also interviewed Colin Mochrie for a story, which was a dream.

I have been updating some old material with new references and those jokes have been doing well. I even admitted during a show that my references were old. Am after looking back at my old material, it’s still funny. A lot of what I write is timeless with just a few tweeks needed.

For March, I am taking a break. I have to write some new stuff and get ready for April. I already have three shows booked for April. I just want to tell my true comedy friends that I love you! And if you don’t have many comedy friends, that’s OK. Be your own comedy community.
