52: I don't think I am ever going to get any sun ever again
It’s July 30 and I have only had two pool days this entire summer. For those of you who don’t know, I get a little blow-up pool for my backyard every summer. I love to lay out in my fancy chaise lounge chair and I love to sit in the pool and read.
Last summer, it rained so much that I only had five pool days. This year I’ve only had two pool days due to weather, but also due to Canadian wildfires. I’ve never had any beef with Canada until this year. It’s super hot, but the sun cannot pierce the hazy smoky horizon.
>>>>DIARY: June flew by because I was in Las Vegas
To add to my misery, during my second pool day, the pool popped and deflated. This is most likely due to the extreme changes in temperatures over the past couple of months. June was rather chilly compared to past months. I had planned for pool day number three, but was a sad lady in a bikini when I found my pool deflated. It was a sad day.
Besides the entire pool-day debacle, this summer hasn’t been too terrible. I won money in Vegas, performed in couple different places and I have been reading a lot. I’ve been inhaling books for fun and also for my “banned book” book club. I haven’t received the next book assignment, but I can’t wait.
I do love the fall, and I have been updating all my courses this summer, so that I can have a more engaging semester. My journalism courses this fall are totally back to face-to-face. I just love the flexibility of a face-to-face class. You can cancel if you need to. You can continue an activity to the next class. You can have visitors to the classroom, and my favorite, I can make my students leave the classroom to actually go places.
I understand this was a very boring blog, but I’m trying to not go an entire month between diary entries. I will hopefully have some more shows to soon. The winery show will be back in the fall, so watch for that. I also need to write my blog about the Barbie movie because that was epic!
I hope your summer wasn’t terrible. See you in September.
