27: The end of summer = happy Jess
This summer has been very trying for everyone in the Dayton region. I want to say first how proud of my students I am for all their hard work covering the chaotic events including the KKK rally, tornadoes and mass shooting. They have shown poise and amazing news judgment. I have some of their stories below.
>>>>DAYTON SHOOTING: If you want change, take action
>>>>DAYTON SHOOTING: The heroes of the Oregon District shooting
>>>>TORNADOES: Dayton bands together in wake of destructive tornadoes
>>>>KKK RALLY: Hate arrives at home: On the front lines of Dayton, Ohio’s KKK rally
For me, this summer has been pretty laid back. I was able to do a couple shows, interview some awesome comedians and lie out in the sun. My little pool has definitely been the highlight of my summer, and I can’t wait until next summer.
>>>>DIARY: The first week of my summer rocked
I am happy summer is ending only because this means it is time for fall. I will be happy to not sweat constantly. I also ordered a new pair of boots, which should be arriving any day. It will soon be sweater weather if an Indian summer doesn’t ruin my plans.
Fall semester starts Monday, and I am totally amped up. This will be my first fall semester as a full-time employee at Sinclair. I am volunteering to help students during Welcome Week, and helping the Clarion at various campus events.
The fall is a time of renewal for me. Many people feel that way about January. For me, I start my new diet and exercise program the first day of fall semester. I am taking a strength training class as well as a volleyball class. I can’t wait to get on the court again. It’s been 20 years.
Whatever it is you do this fall, I wish you well!
