Performing in Vegas and other adventures

Performing in Vegas and other adventures

I’ve been able to travel to multiple states to perform, which I absolutely love to do. This is how I get to see my friends and family more. So I knew that when I was going to Las Vegas in December of 2024, I was going to perform at some club while I was there.

While the performance was the main reason to go to Vegas, I obviously did many other things. We saw some stuff and did some gambling. This blog is going to give you all just a couple highlights of the things that occurred in Vegas. Some will be funny, and some might be more sad.

>>>>DIARY: I also went to Vegas in 2023 and actually won money

The worst thing about going to Vegas is actually getting there. We flew out of Dayton, and my body decided that I would start my menstrual cycle the morning I flew. Sitting on a plane like this for hours isn’t fun, but what happened with TSA was actually quite fun.

As I was going through the giant machine that basically looks and through your clothes, I was asked if I had anything in my pants. On screen there was a big red mark right on my crotch, which I assume was from my maxi pad. I said, “I’m on my period,” but I got the pat down anyway. I thought it was funny.

Performing at Wiseguys.

The cab driver we had from the Vegas airport to Harrah’s where we stayed was quite an adventure. His car smelled vaguely of BO and sadness, and he decided to explain homeless people to us. He said, “These are all actors trying to get money. They say mental health, but no mental health. If mental health, why people no jump from buildings or hang from tree?” Unaware of how to respond, we nodded.

I performed at Wiseguys Comedy Club on a Wednesday night. I was super excited because most of the open mics in Vegas start between 10 p.m. and midnight. For someone coming from Ohio, that was too late. But Wiseguys started at 8 p.m., so I was in. I only got three minutes on stage, but I punched up that three minutes with as much as possible. It was awesome!

Drinking boozy slushies.

We went to a Titanic exhibit at the Luxor because I have always been obsessed with the Titanic. You get a boarding pass, walk through the exhibit and then find out at the end if you died or not. My character was pregnant and her husband perished on the boat leaving her a single mother, one of my worst fears. Overall it was awesome and the artifacts were super cool.

Again, the flight home was wild. When we got to the airport, we found out our connecting flight in Chicago was canceled. We had to figure out what time to fly to Chicago, so we choose to go in the evening and take a connecting flight to Dayton the next day. Since the weather was the reason for the cancellation, I had to pay for a hotel in Chicago. We ate gas station food and wine before heading home.

Eating White Castle downtown.

This is my trip in a nutshell. However, there were a few other things that happened that are worth mentioning. Vegas is always a great place even if you lose all your damn money.

  1. I lost all my damn money.

  2. It took us hours to walk a couple miles down the strip.

  3. I was accosted by half naked bro-dudes on the strip who touched my boobs.

  4. Alcohol slushies are awesome.

  5. Our room came with an intimacy kit.

  6. The shower in our room had no door. NO DOOR. NO CURTAIN. NOTHING. It was quite an odd experience.
