My 5 favorite comedy shows from 2023
It’s the end of the year and time to get retrospective. Whenever I create a set for a show I am on, I save them on my flash drive. From my calculations, I was on 20-plus booked shows and various open mics. There are probably very few open mics because I do not like doing them most of the time. But that’s another blog for another day.

I wanted to highlight my five favorite shows from 2023 since it was my 10-year comedy anniversary. While I have been slowing done a little bit in my comedy career, I’m still proud of myself for staying with it for this long even with all the shit I get from some people. But that’s another blog for another day.
Here are my top five shows from 2023:
I finally was able to host a weekend at the Dayton Funny Bone this year. Since this is the club where I started, it was very special to me. I was reminded how crazy a comedy weekend can be. I performed alongside Brian Million, who is an incredible comic and mentor, and the amazing Alfred Kainga.
This year I was gifted the opportunity to run my own show at the Brandeberry Winery. In all, we did six shows there. All but one of them sold out. While there are many that I loved, my favorite was the first one. My great friends Joe Robinette, Mike Canestaro, Chris Karowski and Karen Jaffe were on the bill.
I was part of the very first open mic night at Bricky’s Comedy Club this year. This show is a little more than an open mic and is super fun. Kevin Ruppert has created a special place where I feel incredibly comfortable performing.
Since we are talking about Bricky’s, another show I loved was when all my exercise friends came to see me. There were at least 10 of them there and they were basically the audience. I was happy to finally share some laughter with the people that have helped me so much through the last couple years at Kettering Rec.
Lastly, my favorite out-of-town show was at The Comet. We performed outside in a courtyard and it was sold out. I had one of my best sets ever here and Chris and his friend Alex were able to attend. Cincinnati is one of my most favorite places to perform. The people there are so welcoming. I kind of want to move there!
