Sing me a song about Jess

Sing me a song about Jess

When I was young, like 15 years old, I started doing this thing to make my friends laugh. I would slip my name into any song that was played. I know it seems minor and it has probably been done before, but it was a mainstay of my teenage years.

My friend Parker especially loved my hilarious tactic, mainly because it would just come out of nowhere. When the show New Girl started and she sung about Jess, Parker text me immediately to say that the show ripped off my idea. However, the show’s song was original, so it doesn’t count.

I wanted to share a couple of the songs that I loved sliding my name into for comedic effect. Here they are:

Home Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd: Home Sweet Home Ala-Jessica.

You Were Meant For Me by Jewel: And soon you will see, you were meant for me. And I was meant for Jess.

This is me when I was 17. It's the only old pic I could find!

Heart of Glass by Blondie: Once I had a love and it was a gas. Soon turned out had a heart of Jess.

Hey Jude by The Beatles: Hey Jess, don’t make it bad.

Sex and Candy by Marcy Playground: I smell sex and Jessica.

Tubthumping by Chumbawamba: I get knocked down, but I get up again.  You are never gonna keep Jess down.

Good by Better Than Ezra: Aha, it was good living with Jess, aha.

I’ll Stand By You by The Pretenders: I’ll stand by Jess. I’ll stand by Jess. Won’t let nobody hurt Jess.

Stay by Lisa Loeb: So, I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up and Jess was singing my song.

Found Out About You by Gin Blossoms: Well I heard about nights at the school yard. I found out about Jess.

Runaway Train by Soul Asylum: I’m in too deep. There’s no way out. This time I have really led Jess astray.
