36: Jess is now 40, and she's also a big fat liar
Well, I turned 40 a month ago, and I lied to you all. I promised to write more blogs and then write my 40th diary on my 40th birthday. Obviously, that didn’t happen. I don’t really know why it didn’t happen. I seem to always have excuses as to why I haven’t written.
So what has happened in the last month?
At the beginning of May, I attended graduation. It was a very small ceremony and we were spread out all over UD arena. I did get to see a few of my fellow professors, so that was nice. We waved from a distance. I was also able to see a couple of students walk and receive their diplomas. That is definitely something that I missed from last year.

I am fully vaccinated now, which is nice. Many of the restrictions for social distancing and masking are gone, so that is a welcomed relief. I’ve had a couple comedy shows, but that will be a blog on its own. I promise to write it.
The big birthday happened. My folks and sister came over from Columbus, and we went to Dublin Pub for dinner. I had potato soup and bites of everyone else’s food. My sister got me shot glasses for presents, one being a little green dinosaur foot that she made me drink out of all night.
My mom, Lisa and I went to Trolley Stop while dad slept in the car. I met friends there, and it was so awesome to be fully vaccinated and to see people smiling and laughing. The last stop was Blind Bob’s where we wrapped up by 9:30 p.m. I mean, I am 40 now. I have to get my beauty sleep. My birthday was fantastic.
I have started training at the gym. It’s doing nothing so far, but I have to keep pushing myself to do it. I continue taking exercise classes, but that will also be another blog on its own. I promise. Let me just say that Boot Camp is no joke.

Lastly, I have been going back to my office. It’s nice to get out of the house, but there is absolutely no one on campus. It won’t feel normal until fall, but I figured I needed to start going back to ease myself into it. I will say that the Tartan Marketplace is open, and you better believe that I have already purchased and eaten two of their amazing wraps!
That’s all for now. I will try to keep up on the diary. I promise.
