PROFILE: Holly Shock is obsessed with chicken
When did you start doing comedy?
It was 16 months ago. I heard about the Sunday Night Comics at Wiley's. I saw it and thought this is what I want to do. And it was!
What do you do in the real world?
I have worked the past 15 years at 3rd shift retail at Meijer's. My days off are Sunday and Monday, so I am really happy for having Wiley's. I will do a lot more after I retire in about 9 months, and concentrate fully on comedy.

What is one of your favorite things about the Dayton comedy scene?
Suck up time! Knowing you, Karen, Scotty, Archy, Joe and all the other comics .It is amazing how everyone is a close knit family. It’s the "Game of Thrones" of comedy without the killing and beheading (mostly) and stuff like that.
Have you ever been overseas?
If Canada counts, going across Lake Erie, then yes.
Who is one comedian you look up to?
I’ve seen him 3 times. Bobcat Goldthwait by far.
What is one meal you could eat all the time?
Chicken, chicken and more chicken. Spinach for a veggie.
What is your favorite 80s movie?
Ghostbusters, by far.
What is one song you cannot stand to listen to?
“Loving You" by Minnie Riperton. I’m shivering right now thinking of that song.

How do you decide what to wear on stage?
Anything comfortable. I love funny shirts, and the shirts are tight, the skirts are short. I turned 64, so show off the assets while you can! Though recently this past Sunday, hosting at Wiley's, I was more dressed up, so anything I figure out from my closet! And yes, I am "one of those girls," who will buy a pair of shoes, and build the outfit around it!
Why is comedy so important?
I love the stage, love the people, love to see them smile, make them laugh, and it is wonderful working on jokes. I like learning right as you do it live. You see what works, or doesn’t. I like being able to change or improve at a moment’s notice judging the crowd. My God, comedy is the total package of life!
