3 humorous binge-worthy shows on Netflix
Remember when we used to get DVDs in the mail through Netflix? That was so adorable. We’ve come a long way since 2008, and I’ll even say that I’m not sure I could live without Netflix.
I haven’t had cable since I moved out of my parents’ wonderful plush, cushy house full of dip and Oreos more than a decade ago. For real. If it was socially acceptable, I’d move right the fuck back in with my parents. They know how to party.

Netflix has really been my go-to for shows. My husband is more of a Hulu guy, but that’s why we have 4 TVs in our house where only 2 people live. I watch my Netflix shows usually when on the treadmill because they are shows my husband typically doesn’t care for. I make sure to turn the TV up super loud at 6 a.m. for his extra discomfort.
Constantly, people ask, “What is everyone watching on Netflix.” When I’m put on the spot, I can never remember. I thought I’d share with you 3 comedies that I have watched, so next time someone asks me what I’m watching, I’ll direct them to my website.
Shameless
This is a show that I immediately fell in love with. It was of course adapted from an English show, and we all know how awesome the English are at sitcoms. The show centers on a dysfunctional family whose drunken self-serving patriarch is played by William H. Macy. He is amazing in this role.
The family is always just trying to get by but life, karma or bad decisions always seem to get them into trouble. While there is a lot of drama, there are equal parts that are totally hilarious. The way they just laugh off drug addiction, stealing or death makes me feel better about my sick sense of humor.

I’m always amazed how the family always seems to rally together in times of crisis. Equally surprising is when I think William H. Macy’s character actually grows a heart, to only totally emotionally destroy everyone and anything in his vicinity.
Grace and Frankie
I started watching this because I hadn’t seen Lily Tomlin like anywhere for like forever. She’s an incredibly talented comedian. This show is odd and maybe even a little kitschy. Two couples have been friends for decades. The husbands are lawyers in a firm. The wives are complete opposites who have only tolerated each for their husbands’ sakes.

One night, the husbands announce they are divorcing their wives because they are gay, in love and have been for 10 years. The wives are then thrust into each other’s lives at a shared beach house. However, they eventually they become best friends despite their differences.
It’s not rolling on the floor with laughter funny, but it has its moments. One of the daughters is a smart ass that reminds me of myself. Lily Tomlin’s character is a pot-smoking hippie who takes peyote, which is a delight. Overall, the show just makes me happy to know that women in their 70s can still drink, smoke weed and have a lot of good sex.
GLOW
This is actually a show that my husband did watch with me. GLOW stands for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, which was a thing in the 1980s. My husband and I watched some of the old videos, and they were pretty close with some characters.

Obviously with a group of women, drama will ensue. The show is funny because the women have to come up with characters and that’s when things gets hilarious. I’m not a fan of wrestling, but I will say that I would definitely watch women’s wrestling if it were like it is in GLOW.
The show also features Marc Maron who is a comedian that I have really never been able to stand. He’s stuck up and really not much of a comic. He’s more of a complainer. But in GLOW, he’s a dick who drinks, smokes, does drugs and bangs girls. He’d be so much cooler in real life if he still did those things.
