Ugly art: Sperm and eggs
This painting is around 20 years old, which means it was probably created while listening to Marilyn Mason, Limp Bizcuit and Korn, which would explain one of the messages: Talent not necessary.
The author was quite distraught when she painted this 3rd-grade-esque finger painting. Her parents were still together and school was going well, so she had absolutely nothing to be sad about. As an artist, not being sad is like not being high. She was also not high either when this painting was created, because if she had been, the painting would have turned out much better.
At first glance, one may think the painting represents birth since there seem to be tons of sperm and eggs floating around. It is unclear whether the eggs and sperm are being spewed out from the puddle at the bottom or if they falling down toward it. The artist is terrible at showing depth. Or composition. Or blending and brush work. Or foregrounds or backgrounds. Or really any other art term you can think of.
The artist may have thought they were being clever by using contrasting dark colors with light colors outside of them. However, the movie Jungle Fever had just come out a few short years before it was painted, so the contrast is just cliché and hacky.
Lastly, if turned upside it looks like a volcano, so we’ll just go with that instead.
