PROFILE: Gary Henry looks cool with chopsticks
Counting the number of shows I have been on with Gary Henry would take some time. He's always amazingly supportive and positive, so I decided that he needed a profile.
Here it is:
Why did you become a comedian?
My family urged me to try standup. I continue working at becoming a better comedian because I've gone through hard times when I forgot how to laugh and feel happy. I like having the ability to help people forget their worries for awhile.
What is one thing that frustrates about comedy if anything?
Just one? When a veteran comic or booker is at an open mic, and it doesn't go well because you're working on new material. I feel like I'm judged on that one performance. Come to a show!
What’s it like having 2 first names?
It's annoying because everyone points it out like you didn't know. I'm thinking about starting a club.

If you could meet any dead comedian, who would it be?
Mitch Hedberg. I think he'd be fun and also willing to help an aspiring comic.
What is your favorite topic to write about?
My favorite topic is my life. I try to pull inspiration from every aspect of it.
What do you do outside of comedy?
I'm a full time truck driver. I spend a lot of time with my family. I also watch a lot of movies. I've seen every kids movie at least 5 times!
What is your favorite food and why?
My favorite food is General Tso's chicken because I look cool while working the chopsticks.
Do you have any pets?
We have a cat named Tabby. Very unique name.
